To some this may sound silly or boring, but don’t knock it till you try it. There is a wealth of treasure in the exercise of such study. You may even find this a valuable team-study with your children/spouse. If you’re still a little unfamiliar with all this, here’s the scoop:
A catechism is simply a collection of theological questions and biblical answers. It is not intended for the purpose of mere knowledge, but rather for discipline unto godliness. As you study and meditate through this resource you will grow in your understanding of the Bible and the four components to necessary to a theology-driven life.
Each week, take a question with you throughout the day. As time permits – in the morning, daytime, evening, and night – meditate upon the theological questions and scriptural answers. Pray that God’s Spirit will work to write each passage of Scripture upon your heart so that you might please God and live your life in a manner worthy of the gospel. In Colossians 1:9-12, the Apostle Paul writes, “For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light.” The ultimate purpose of this resource is to guide you toward a deeper maturity in Christ, to the glory of God – both worshiping and proclaiming Him at all times.
