Thank you to those who attended the Jax Pastor’s Conference 2011. Linked here is the presentation for Making the Most of Your Bible in Ministry.

Title: Making the Most of Your Bible in Ministry
Description: Some ministry experts report that a vibrant church needs good marketing, exciting topics, and a polished image. But is this true? In this seminar, we will consider why the Bible is all a pastor needs in order to grow a vibrant church. In addition, we will discuss how practically to use the Bible to empower every area of your church.

Since reading one chapter takes about 3 minutes, a one year reading plan requires 9-12 minutes. This is great, but you may find yourself wanting to go a bit further. Posted here is a schedule that turns up the intensity a bit and hopefully maximizes the benefits of discipline along the way.

The Bible teaches that bountiful giving springs from a heart that has been changed by God’s bountiful grace. It is only natural for a person who lives under grace to give more cheerfully than he ever could while living under law. Here is a Bible study lesson concerning what it means to be a bountiful giver from 2 Corinthians 9:6-9.

The Practice of Godward Prayer is a 6 week teaching curriculum. This series leads students through a detailed study of Christian prayer as presented in the Scriptures. Rather than teaching that prayer is merely a way to selfishly “ask for and get what you want,” this series presents prayer as a way to bring pleasure to God through dependence, worship, and adoration. In addition, this series is not only a practical guide for Christian prayer, but a theological study of the practice of Godward prayer.

Reclaiming Christmas by Proclaiming the Christ is a 4 week teaching curriculum. This curriculum is not a purely practical training in evangelism. Rather than majoring on the how of evangelism, this series seeks to explain the what and why of the Gospel. The goal of each lesson is not to create people who know the “tricks of the trade,” but to deepen their understanding and love of the Gospel, which will translate into a greater evangelistic passion and practice.
